Who are We?

MontereyVisitorsGuide.com is a free, local service that began in April, 1996, with the ultimate goal of providing visitors to our area with a friendly, unbiased, local perspective on the Monterey Peninsula. We are made up of several smaller businesses to assist you including Monterey Peninsula Reservations (free hotel room finding service), Monterey Hot Deals (free room finding service for last minute bargains and hotel packages), and City Itinerary (a free trip planning service). Our company was started by two partners who have a combined 24 years of experience in the travel industry. Our main goal is to provide you with the best overall experience during your stay on the Monterey Peninsula.

How many hotels does your hotel room finding division represent?

As of September, 2005, we represent over 140 hotels, motels, inns, resorts and B&B's in the cities of Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, Carmel Valley, Big Sur, Seaside, Salinas, Marina, Aptos and Santa Cruz. We have personally inspected each and every hotel property. We only work with properties that have at least a 2-star rating. If anyone can find you a room during a busy time period, our company can.

What kind of hotel rates can you get for me?

Because we refer a lot of business to local hotels, we can often secure a better room rate for you than if you were to call on your own. At the very least, we will get you the same rate that you would get but save you the time and effort in finding the best available accommodations. We do have special rates and special values offered to us by several hotels. How can I find out more about your organization?

We are members of the following local organizations that would be pleased to provide you with further background on MPR: Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce, Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce, Monterey Peninsula Convention and Visitors Bureau, Carmel Chamber of Commerce and the International Association of Travel Agencies.

Why should I use your service instead of any other travel service or internet site?

• We are locally owned and operated with our office in Pacific Grove - within a few minutes from Monterey and Carmel. You can ask us about the weather or where the nearest mini-mart is in relation to your hotel choice and we will know the answer.
• Unlike some internet based travel services, we have seen each and every hotel property that we represent (we write our own descriptions based on what we see versus copying it off of a brochure). We also know the latest renovations and staff changes at local hotels that may affect your stay.
• Because we represent just hotels on the Monterey Peninsula, we give each one of them a lot of business. With our good relationship, hotel managers are often more flexible with us when it comes to special request (e.g. room upgrades) and getting good rates.
• Because we do not hold a set "block" of rooms with each hotel (most internet sites do), we can call up and get you the very last room that they have available. Other sites may say a hotel is sold out or be offering a super high rate while we can tell you the most up-to-date and accurate information.
• We work with more hotels than any other hotel reservations service.
• By confidential survey, over 80 percent of local hotels named us the number one hotel reservations service serving the Monterey Peninsula. We have been a 4-time finalist for the Monterey Peninsula Chambers Business Excellence Award and recently won the same award from the Pacific Grove Chamber of Commerce.
• After we make your reservation, we will fax or email you out a confirmation including information on local restaurants and even some internet based coupons to save you money on activities and restaurants.

Monterey Peninsula Reservations, LLC (MPR), the parent company for MontereyVisitorsGuide.com, is a privately owned company whose main purpose is to assist people in having the most enjoyable time possible on the Monterey Peninsula. We are committed to maintaining your privacy.

MPR will not sell or provide personal information to third parties. We ask for information such as current mailing address, phone and email address in order to communicate with you and to reserve your room.

Your information is shared only with the hotel at which you choose to make a reservation. Every other month or so, we may contact you by email or regular mail to advise you of extra special values available to our return customers through our Monterey Hot Deals division.
